HAWAII - first week

It's the Friday after Thanksgiving. I'm still waiting for my negative test results to post. I'm getting impatient - I'm tired of being stuck in the house. I've called CVS twice today already with no luck. At around 4pm, I call again. The person I talked to is polite but firm in insisting that I just have to wait for the results to show up. When I mentioned that it's been seven days since I took the test, she interjected that since they were closed for Thanksgiving, its technically only been six days and that it wouldn't be fair to everyone else also waiting for results for her to try to expedite mine. Instead of arguing logistics, I told her how frustrating it was to move to a new place and not be able to venture out, pick up our stuff or confirm our car pickup. At this point, she softened - she said "You're on day six, I'm sure you'll get your response soon".  I thanked her and hung up.

4am Saturday, I'm still on Florida time so I'm wide awake.  I half-heartedly check the CVS site for my results. OMG!!! The results are in -- NEGATIVE!! I hear Lo stirring about so I tell her the good news. She helps me load the results on the State of Hawaii page. Now, we wait for them to verify and accept my results. At 6am, I get notification that my results have been verified and accepted. I. AM. FREE. I am officially off of quarantine. I can't wait for daylight so we can venture out.

We still don't have our car so we set out for a walk. There's a nice early morning breeze and the sun is just rising. It's exactly what I imagined while I was stuck inside.

We walk about a mile away to a little shopping center with lots of restaurants but we have trouble finding a place that allows diners inside. We end up at Koa Pancake house. The food is so good and we were surprised at how busy they were. They, like most restaurants here if you dine in, require that you leave your name and contact info, along with the time you dined.

We end up walking for another three hours, just checking out the neighborhood, before we head home.

It's weird but, during this pandemic, I've spent a lot of time at home just like everyone else but having to quarantine when everyone else could go out was so much harder. It definitely made me appreciate things a lot more once I could go out.

Let my Aloha Adventure begin.
